How do I get the squeak out of a rocking chair?
I got this old wooden rocking chair from a friend and I painted it black to match the nursery decor. It has always kind of "clicked" a little when I rock in it but now it's squeaking and cracking so loud that it just annoys my daughter and I. Is there a way to fix it? I haven't tried anything yet. I don't want to ruin it.
What kind of oil? Like WD-40?

try to oil it.
Before going all out on repairs, try "Chairlock" from a hardware store.
Inexpensive & works well if the joints are in decent shape.
Really rickety joints should be knocked apart & reglued.
Oil will cause problems if regluing is necessary
Tighten any screws you see.
Rock on.
