Sounds good to me. The swing and comforter are good extras--I agree.

diaper pail like diaper genie 2 or something of that nature YOU REALLY want a nice diaper pail to seal in oder so your house don't smell or you don't have to run outside to toss out every nasty diaper.

The only thing that I would have to add is a book shelf. My kids have so many books that we bought them both bookshelves. Plus you can put stuffed animals, CD's etc.. on there. Congrats and Good Luck! Oh and a baby monitor too.

It is always good to get colorful things for your baby to explore at an early age. Some researcher have always suggested having a mirror to help them with social development. Don't forget to get a walkie talkie if the baby is in a separate room, so that you'll know when your child is crying or needs love and comfort. Good Luck!^_^

Two things I could not live without was the baby moniter and a little CD player that I played mozart on. My kids are 1 & 2 and still don't want to sleep without their mozart.

Changing tables are overrated. I plan on changing mine in the bed. I'd rather have a chest or dresser instead of wasting that space. I like chests/dresser because you can display things on top of them. otherwise, your list is fine. you can always add stuff later.

Oh, and a diaper stacker that hangs on the crib is so great...if you don't use a changing table.

A bookshelf is nice. You should begin reading to your baby long before they know what books are. They like the sound of your voice and it helps teach them the rythym of speech patterns. You don't have to load all the shelves with books. I have picture frames, photo albums, stuffed animals and keepsakes on some of the shelves.

Well when you say crib I assume you are also going to buy sheets, water-proof pad, and bumper, those babies know how to scoot! it sounds like you got everything pretty much covered. I would give you some advice if money is tight you don't really need a changing table the crib works just as well, as does the floor, your lap. But when you and baby are on the go I would buy a changing/waterproof bassinet pad. Some of those bathroom changing stations are yucky!

buy a toy kitchen set and stuff they lovethat. they LOVE slides in the shape of animals so then they can be disracted in more than one way with the slide. For the wall decorations i suggest you choose to have it painted animals and a rainbow instead of hanging things because little kids love to say which animals are which and the colors and ect.

A baby monitor, diaper 'genie", and Mylacon. While you are at the hospital, (and they use them) grab yourself a couple of the "chux" pads. They are usually green and white. They will be on your bed to absorb any liquids.They are great for giving baths and changing diapers on. They are machine washable and are also great for keeping baby's crib dry. Put in on baby's bed when he is potty training to protect the mattress then too!

I wouldn't get a changing table, it's a waste of money, it's just as easy changing them in the bed, or somewhere else. I would get a shelf sorta like a book shelf but line the baskets in them for everything, and on the top shelf you could just decorate with figurines and stuff.

A means to play classical music, phonetics, and nursery rhymes. Your child will learn while it is sleeping, too, these sounds should be going on, softly, in the back ground while the child is awake.

Starting now, before your child is born is a good idea. Softly, while you sleep, and talk the baby. Your child is/will learn.

Purchase toys that teach creativity, that can be taken apart and put together again in a different shape.

Do not teach your child that she is not beautiful the way nature made her/him. Make-up, hair dye, that whole issues, implies that these things must be done to be liked or beautiful! That is an ugly door to open, think of all the high school crap about young ladies feel that have to dye their hair 50 different times or put on this type of make-up crap other wise the boys will not see them or the other girls will not like them. No self esteem, or self confidence! CRAP CRAP CRAP

By leaving that crap out, your love, plus music, tennis, martial arts, swimming, family life, will support more than, "I-AM-Not-Beautiful-Make Up -Crap"

CD player for lullabies @ naptime

Conair soothing sounds machine (I'm not positive that's what it's called - http://www.slee… ...) We play it on heartbeat sound all night long instead of lullabies and have a baby that slept through the night from 3 weeks old. She seemed to know the difference between music @ naps & heartbeat @ night. We couldn't live without it!!

Something for you to look at if you plan on feeding the baby in that rocking chair. A friend of mine has a little fish tank in there. The hum of the filter also soothes the baby.

Really good blinds that block the light when closed (we got the cordless ones that you just push up and down. No cords to get caught up in and less little holes for the light to come through.)

Diaper Genie

Soft light to leave on near the changing table for late night changes and feedings. (A bright light will stimulate your baby too much and wake them right up!)

My Dad made our change table to put on top of an existing desk. (A change table in and of itself becomes a REALLY useless piece of furniture in no time at all.) Our change table is one that you stand at the feet of the baby rather than changing them sideways. (Think about it... if you ever change a baby on a bed or on the floor how are they usually lying?) If you can orient your change table that way do it! It's the smartest thing I did in my nursery!!

A fan, a small one. It works good for white noise, helps the baby sleep. They are not used to silence and I have used a fan to help my baby sleep since she was born(almost four months now). She sleeps 8-10 hours straight at night. It really works. Good luck with the baby!

A Diaper Genie 2.

We had our first baby boy 11 months ago. While many people concentrate on toys, furniture, mobiles etc., we found out that our baby needed a good bedding set. At first we bought a $50 Winnie the pooh bedding at Kmart/walmart. With time we realized that our baby was not comfy with it - the quality had deteriorated with couple of washes, the bumpers were not as thick as we wanted etc etc. My wife convinced me to buy an expensive crib bedding set which we did from an awesome website www.spiffybaby.com. The "KOI" 4-Piece Crib Set by Sozo cost us around $300-$350 but believe me that my son LOVES it a lot. At 11 months he is jumping all around in his crib, hitting the walls protected by thick bumpers. He loves his new friend fish and falls asleep in a matter of minutes. The quality of this product is unbelievable. Trust me its better to buy one good expensive set instead of buying multiple bad ones. I see now www.spiffybaby.com carry additional bedding my ducduc which is modern and nice too. I think for my baby the bedding is everything.
