What kind of dining room chairs would you use for a old cherry wood table?
I have a cherry wood table that is about 40 years old and the chairs are falling apart. The table is great but the chairs are bad and I only want to replace them. I wanted to get something other than wood chairs any suggestions

depending on your decorating style, you might try parsons chairs...you can get all different style covers for them from french country style to modern.
I like the idea of getting away from the wood chairs since they would be nearly impossible to match up. Depending on your table I always liked the comfort of the game chairs. I posted this website for type, but definitely not this color. I would choose either a red vinyl or black leather.

In keeping with the style. Look in your local buy sell or craigs list for a pair of wing chairs. http://winnipeg…

Then fill in the rest with parsons chairs. See if you can have the ones that came with the set redone too. As this set ages, if it's of good quality it will be better with the chairs.
It depends on your tastes. If you're trying to do a more modern look, then go for the parsons chairs, wrought iron ones, etc. If you'd really like to keep the warmer, classic wood look, then find some good ones, and don't worry at all about matching wood colors. You can mix and match woods all over your home. I would try to match the curve of the legs, more that the color of the wood. Or if you like the shabby chic look, don't match them at all.
