do i use turpentine or naptha to remove build-up of scum on wood chairs?
i used some solvent one other time and i have a project to clean chairs in a resturant that have not been cleaned in years. i also need to do the tables, which aren't as bad.
i've tried murphy's soap, degreaser, and misc products to no avail and i need something to get it done easily as i have 200 to do.

Either should work but Naptha is almost odorless.
I sucessfully used washing soda and warm water myself. Wipe dry when done cleaning.

You might try Formby's Furniture Refinisher, but it takes off everything...including varnish. What kind of scum? Is it like a grease buildup? Have you tried Greased Lightning? No matter what you use it sounds like you're in for a lot of work.
